My heart has been lied to, cheated on, crushed, and bruised.
But, that doesn’t define me. I’m not broken. All of the terrible things that have happened to me have made me a stronger, better person.
Every heartbreak has helped me get to this place in my life where I finally like, even love, myself. To this place where I find love everywhere I look. I find it in nature. I find it in people-watching. I find it looking at my kids. This place where magic still seems real and dreams might just come true.
Remember your first heartbreak? Remember how raw and painful it was? How you thought you would never be okay? Never love again? But, you did. You grew up and gave love another chance, didn’t you?
Maybe the hard times in our lives happen to help us grow into our true selves. Maybe they happen to help us realize the really great things in our lives. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather feel love and get my heart broken than not. I want to feel my heart beat fast and the butterflies in my stomach, even if there is a chance it might end.
Relationships end and people leave. That’s just a part of life. Feel the pain. Cry the tears. Get mad if you need to. But, remember all the good things you once felt.
And don’t forget that love is literally all around you. You just have to open your eyes and be brave enough to look.
