I’m Glad It Happened
A love so fiery, so passionate, could never last forever. We burned with such a flame that it had to go out before it consumed us both. And rather than be left in the wake of ashes and regret, I had to let you go. I let you go to discover how to burn on your own, how to set a light your own soul without letting you destroy my will to burn just as brightly. But I do not leave with anger in my heart. Instead I leave with a new ember of hope growing within me. You showed me all the good and all the bad, all the joy and all the pain, all the risk and all the gain of living in the heat of the moment. You taught me how to rekindle my own soul after falling slave to the eclipse of your toxic embrace. And even though I wish things could have been different between us, I am glad it happened. I am grateful to you for the strength I’ve gained in learning how to love myself without consequences. I am grateful for the time we had together, and the love we shared for it has gifted me with the most precious blessing of my life – our son. I will raise him in the glory of our God and teach him to love and live in his own beautiful fiery soul without scorching the hearts of others. Because we loved so hot, we gave birth to a flame that could never be extinguished. And for that, I am eternally grateful.
