Stewart & Colbert laugh at Romney & Santorum.

by on Feb 29, 2012

“How do you hear ‘All faiths are welcome’ as ‘No faiths are welcome? If it makes you feel any better, if JFK were alive today, knowing you were running for President would make him sh*t his pants.” Turning accusations of elitism from elites and snobbery from snobs into funny? Served: Take this: And, that:

¡Facebook les va a Cobrar Doble! {Artículo en Español e Inglés}

by on Feb 29, 2012

“Lo que sí sabía era que no todos los fans estaban recibiendo todo mi contenido, y de hecho casi todos los días la mayoría de mis fans no estaban recibiendo ninguna de mi contenido. Pero lo que yo no sabía eran los detalles exactos del algoritmo, cómo se calcularon, y lo que podría haber sido la posible motivación de Facebook para socavar fundamentalmente lo que se gana el pan, los anunciantes.”

Where Do You Turn When Your Yoga Teacher Explodes? ~ Kat Robinson

by on Feb 29, 2012

The biggest disadvantage, however, no one else to pass the buck to because it stops with you. We found that out when we were notified of a good old fashioned IRS audit, in which an IRS officer comes to your place of business and begins to look at every aspect of your life.

Facebook is about to Double-Dip. {Article in English & Spanish}

by on Feb 29, 2012

“What I did know was that not all fans were receiving all of my content, and in fact on most days the majority of my fans weren’t receiving any of my content. But what I did not know were the exact details of the algorithm, how it was calculated, and what on earth could have been Facebook’s motivation to essentially undermine their bread and butter; the advertisers.”

Moments without Dialogue Can Be the Most Revealing. ~ Lisa Avebury

by on Feb 29, 2012

How often do we use words to hide the pain we hold in our hearts?

When in doubt do nothing. More difficult to sit with something that hurts. Much easier to explain it away, cover it up and go with the flow.

The Pregnant Yogini: A Slow Rising Panic

The Pregnant Yogini: A Slow Rising Panic.

by on Feb 29, 2012

I feel a sort of slow panic rising in my chest. I’m 37 weeks pregnant; that’s considered ‘term’. The baby could come any day now. I’m torn. Obviously I’m excited to meet my child, but I’m worried about what’s coming. A tiny little human completely dependent upon its mummy and daddy to care for it. What if we get it all wrong? What if we have no idea what we’re doing?

Is Your Prana Low? How Sanskrit Can Help. ~ Dr. Katy Poole

by on Feb 29, 2012

But rather than stay with your awareness focused on where the feeling is arising within you, your attention travels outward instead, toward an external cause. Blame of another swoops in, steals away your logic, and drops it on the doorstep of your mother, father, friend, boss, and so on. And if you should act on your unexamined feelings directed externally in this way, the consequences will be—without doubt— misaligned with dharma. You’ll suffer.

Go in Peace Davy Jones. I’m a Believer.

by on Feb 29, 2012

Davy Jones died this afternoon of an apparent heart attack.

There were never controversies surrounding him—except the big one: The Monkees never sang their songs, they were only lip-syncing. This was never proven, but imagine that was the only dirt ever associated with them.

Sex and Yoga: How I Became a Yoga Teacher.

by on Feb 29, 2012

It just may be true that there’s a connection between sex and yoga. This may not be popular among my more truth-seeking friends who can debate the difference between Tantra, Rajanaka and Shiva/Shakti philosophies, but those of us who have our butt on the mat instead of our head in the stars have another perspective. Where Music & Yoga Dance Beautifully. ~ Derek Beres

by on Feb 29, 2012

Over the past decade, the intersection of yoga and music has evolved tremendously in America. When I began practicing in 1998, my teachers abhorred the idea of using music in the classroom. I understood the value of contemplative silence—tuning into the subtleties of breathing, using Soho car horns as a meditation tool—but sometimes I just [...]

by on Feb 29, 2012

Living Foods are fermented foods like yogurt, homemade sauerkraut or cheese. These foods have enzymes in them so they aid digestion, and they provide healthy Probiotics. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria we need in our gut to support healthy bowel movements, prevent IBS, and keep our immune system healthy. Use them as condiments by adding a little bit to each meal.

Do I Have to Buy Organic?

by on Feb 29, 2012

The center of all things healthy, beautiful and Organic. I was used to all things natural, certified organic and perfect for my consumption. I spent an outrageous amount of money on food and jumped on many health bandwagons; vegetarianism, veganism, raw foodism. In my fridge you would always find kale, bee pollen, spirulina, chlorella, hemp seeds, freshly ground flax seeds, aloe vera, bentonite clay and of course the vitamix with leftover green smoothie.

The Social Media Sūtras. {Video}

by on Feb 29, 2012

We grow as people, and as a society through the collective musings shared and shared again, compounding our imaginative and philosophical reach beyond the scope of human consciousness. Through this we are presented with a profound opportunity to create a more open world, wherein happiness and peace are the new norm.

by on Feb 29, 2012

I found something else to become addicted to and control. My mind persuaded me that the only way to live, was to control what I did with my body. I did not understand, that the only way to live is to delve deeper and calm my mind so my body and soul are free.

Driving a car is cheaper than riding a bicycle.*

by on Feb 28, 2012

Driving a car is cheaper than riding a bicycle? Calculate it yourself. Well…if you forget about maintenance, insurance, parking, tickets…and your gas isn’t $4.00 a gallon or more, and you’re getting 42 miles/gallon, which you aren’t (well, until Obama’s new rules set in). On Being a Guru.

by on Feb 28, 2012

The story has been told before, in a memoir, in interviews, at lectures, teacher trainings, midnight conversations with strangers on lonely flights across the country, a thousand threads of the same narrative reframed in dialog, inner monologue, committed to the page (digitial and acid free paper). It has become stale, tired in my own mouth. The one constant is the emotional subtext, that is never insipid, it is still full of blood.

Dear Anusara Yoga Kula. ~ Sarah Faircloth

by on Feb 28, 2012

My primary reason for writing this letter is to offer my experience for the benefit of those who have been deprived of information, have been subject to seductive misinformation, or who simply lack the perspective to make an informed, critical decision. Whether you decide to remain with Anusara or not is not the issue. It is a catastrophe of leadership that you haven’t even been given factual information on which to base your thinking.
