Lance Armstrong: Path Back from Culpability. ~ Ashleigh Hitchcock

Is there redemption for a media hero who’s gone rogue?

In today’s competitive environment, only the best are rewarded. In order to keep up, we need to become part of the Peloton.

Lance Armstrong was a leader in that pack, winning seven consecutive Tour DeFrance titles between 1999 and 2005. In 2012 he was stripped of his titles by the U.S. Anti Doping Agency. Armstrong excuses his behavior, saying all the top cyclists of his era were doping and he had to, in order to level the playing field.

“There was a group of us primarily living in Italy and we just said we either have to play ball here or go home. Maybe I’d approach the decision differently today, but at the time I didn’t lose sleep over it.” ~ Lance Armstrong

Sociologically, if we are someone who plays by the rules, it’s easy to judge those who don’t.

Many of us still consider Lance Armstong to be one of the world’s best cyclists, despite the doping. Biking competitor, Jan Ulrich, contends that Lance Armstrong should have his titles reinstated.

Getting past the tit-for-tat, what is Lance up to nowdays?

Not much.

As a former world champion, he decided to do a public service project and make a video, describing the steps in fixing a flat bicycle tire. This is crucial information for all bikers. And very entertaining. Enjoy!
