3 Things every Reiki Practitioner Wants their Clients to Know.

The art of reiki—a Japanese technique for energy healing—is mysterious indeed.

It is so mysterious that some skeptics don’t even believe it is real. But those are probably also the sort of people who don’t believe in love.

As a reiki practitioner myself, I’m here to tell you—like love, reiki is a powerful force that can fill us with vibrant energy and stimulate the healing of old wounds, as well as current maladies.

It is so powerful, it can reach backward in time, across the planet and forward into the future.

As “woo-woo” as that sounds, reiki is also fairly straightforward.

Reiki healers are like lightening rods for positivity—we specialize in bringing in light and ushering out darkness. It is a profoundly beautiful exchange between two people (although it can be directed inward toward the healer herself or outward towards large groups or even continents of people as well). Much like a mother’s kiss upon her child’s brow, it is made entirely of goodwill.

People are often understandably perplexed by reiki, particularly clients who are coming in for the first time. They don’t know what to expect and can be a bit apprehensive.

The following are a few insights to help put anyone at ease:

1. Reiki does not make us vulnerable to evil forces.

This is a very silly misconception about reiki, perpetuated by people who have zero understanding of it. No bad can ever come from reiki, because it is entirely based on love.

2. Reiki practitioners are healers, not mind readers or psychics.

Clients are often nervous that I can “see into their soul” or perceive some secret about them that they would prefer not to reveal. While I do get a sense of their general energy while treating them, it’s not specific information. If I can feel that their first chakra is over functioning, I still won’t know why—only the client themselves can know the true reason.

As their healer, I can tell patients what I find energetically, and together we might discuss possible causes of discomfort or blockage, but without their insight, I won’t have any answers.

3. Reiki healers accept us as we are.

We don’t care what our clients look like, how much they weigh, how old they are, how educated they are, what their profession is, if they’re single or married, an addict, a trauma survivor, an ex-con, about their race or creed or if they do or don’t believe in God.

It doesn’t even matter whether they believe in reiki.

All we care about is that they are a fellow soul in need of compassion, love and healing—and we are honored that they’ve chosen us to help them find it.

Reiki is a simple, effective and safe tool to lessen anxiety and promote emotional, spiritual and physical balance. It can help with chronic conditions such as insomnia, post traumatic stress disorder and infertility—and an endless list of other troubles!

Used in combination with other holistic treatments and Western therapies, it can become a reliable part of anyone’s road to ultimate health and wellness.
