Donald Trump (and Palin) vs. Al Gore

“The Nobel committee should take the Nobel Prize back from Al Gore.”

Too busy getting rich n’getting laid to give a [email protected]#$%^&* about the rest of us…or pay attention to an overwhelming scientific consensus.

The Donald said this to…get this…his golf club. Highlight is mine:

With the coldest winter ever recorded, with snow setting record levels up and down the coast, the Nobel committee should take the Nobel Prize back from Al Gore.

Gore wants us to clean up our factories and plants in order to protect us from global warming, when China and other countries couldn’t care less. It would make us totally non-competitive in the manufacturing world, and China, Japan and India are laughing at America’s stupidity.”

Even the USA Today, rather moderate, seems flummoxed at Trump’s dump:

Trump did not mention Vancouver’s lack of snow, which has prompted truckloads of snow to be carried to Olympic skiing and snowboarding venues.

As a prior post reports, global warming skeptics, including GOP Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, have used snowmageddon to taunt Gore, who has warned of the dangers of climate change. Scientists say global warming is actually contributing to new extreme weather patterns.

They failed to note that, whatever The Donald thinks, China is, as of now, the world’s leader in going green, building more solar panels and wind turbines than the rest of the world.

So what is going on? Well, it’s actually the 8th warmest winter on record. Global Warming is an inaccurate term, many scientists prefer Climate Change or Global Weirding. As the earth’s temperatures change due to manmade emmissions—you think all our cars and buildings and domesticated animals don’t have any effect?!—even when temps shift only a little (as they did before and after prior ice ages)—weather patterns change, and get more extreme.

This ain’t hypothetical—we have plenty of evidence right now.

On…yes…Fox…Trump repeated the suggestion:

After last week's record-breaking storms, many scientists went to great lengths to explain that the storms do not disprove climate change. Some even believe that climate change contributed to the storms.

Last Friday, another billionaire, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, went after climate change deniers and explained that climate change and CO2 emissions pose a huge threat to people everywhere.

In 2009, Forbes ranked Bill Gates as the richest American with a net worth of $50 billion. Donald Trump ranked 158 on the same list, with a significantly smaller net worth of $2 billion.

proves you don't have to be smart to be rich

Neither knows the difference between climate and weather.

I can't believe this country has boiled down to business tycoons, politicians, and talk show hosts sticking their hands out the window to gage, and refute, global warming. Don't dig any deeper…it's easier to pander to idiocy when you are one yourself.

Money sure don't breed class – or brains – interesting that they both look like they wear creepy hairpieces too.

The Donald and gun totin' Sarah should ride off into the sunset together… One is wealthy stupid, the other just stupid.

That's right, just because you have money doesn't mean you have brains.

I am saddened by how many people shape their opinions, based on superficial sound-bites such as this. India and China rank 123rd and 121st in pollution control, respectively. Together they account for 1/3 of the world's most polluted places, and they are both in the top 10 for worst polluted countries.
I think we get way lost in confining the … See Morediscussions to "global warming". It is a term that is so abused and misused at this point, and every dip below 32 degrees creates a skeptical stir.
Nonsmoking women in an area of China’s Yunnan province die of lung cancer at a rate 20 times that of their counterparts in other regions of the country — and higher than anywhere else in the world….coal burning.
This is about issues more expansive than global warming alone, and I am trying to become smarter as to how I can be better informed when these reactions are thrown into the mass media.
Wow. Thanks for that, Darrin. What is interesting tho is that China sees the green in green—they're already number one, in just a year or two, in producing wind turbines and solar panels. Perhaps they're beginning to get the terrible human (etc) cost of polluting our planet in the name of speed and greed.

See; I did not know that. I am constantly humbled by my learning curve on this really critical topic. Thanks, Waylon. You make me want to be a smarter person:)

I've long thought of the term "global warming" as a misnomer because of how much of an emphasis people place on what they are immediately experiencing, and that the term "climate change" would have many fewer clashes with people's observed experiences. While it's true that there has been an increase in average global temperature, and hence a … See Morewarming, the biggest manifestations of the warming won't necessarily be temperature related. Several climate models (the ones that I've felt to be the most likely long before people started talking about warming) predict an increase in the seasonal extremes and complete shifts in regional climates as well as larger and more frequent severe weather. In these models, this winter is actually one of the most poignant examples to date of global warming. But I suppose it's too much to ask for people that survive on sensationalist news stories to broaden their perspectives enough to realize that.

and who said you have to have brains to be an idiot?

  3. ndsmith says:

The ignorance on display here is just appalling! "Competitive disadvantage"… sure, I mean in the same way that having a democracy puts us at a "competitive disadvantage."

The more he speaks, the dumber he gets: linking CFCs in hairspray and Ozone depletion (a problem we pesky environmentalists largely solved, thank you very much) to global warming?!?

  4. Now we know for sure. Trump's brain is as idiotic as his hair.

  5. Now we know for sure. Trump's brain is as idiotic as his hair.

As for competitiveness, ask Trump to rationalize this:

Apparently no one in the media knows that "weather" happens outside of the US too??? We had record warm winters in Canada where it is SUPPOSED to be cold, it is beyond record high temps for spring, and it RAINED at the NORTH POLE for the first time in History! Please get it together, there is LIFE beyond the borders of the US contrary to the apparent knowledge and beliefs of ignorant news stations, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin!
