Take the Big King Down.

It’s 2012. Elephants and tigers (etcetera) are scheduled for extinction in the wild within 10 years. That’s before many of us have children who will know what elephants and tigers are.

Still, big game safaris in Africa are…er, well, alive and well. Just ask Google, or GoDaddy’s CEO (above). You can google ’em, sign up for one, and go and hunt to kill, then pose for photos just like Teddy or Hemingway, only without any residual danger. Fun!

The song, below, however, is magical, and I listen to it too much and then forget it for months and then remember it and fall in love or lust for it all over again.

Sing it loudly but deeply by yourself or with a loved one, I do:

If I was young I’d flee this town
I’d bury my dreams underground
As did I, we drink to die, we drink tonight…

Far from home, elephant gun
Let’s take them down one by one
We’ll lay it down, it’s not been found, it’s not around

Let the seasons begin—it rolls right on
Let the seasons begin—

take the big king down

Let the seasons begin—it rolls right on
Let the seasons begin—

take the big king down

And it rips through the silence of our camp at night
And it rips through the night

And it rips through the silence of our camp at night
And it rips through the silence, all that is left is all that i hide

  1. When I saw the title I was sooooo hoping it would be this song! Yay!!

  2. Eric says:

While merely repeating the ignorance, greed & hate of previous centuries, we're just more efficient at it–what will it take?

In "Blade Runner", Roy Batty said "I want more LIFE, fvcker!" when he met his maker (Eldon Tyrell).
For my part (meeting my maker aside): I WANT MORE LOVE & EVOLUTION, FVCKERS!
    (~great song 🙂

  3. karlsaliter says:

I remember reading "Dominion" and having it sink in that every wild animal out there is for sale.
    That they are going, going…
It is a heart breaker on wheels.
I wrote a novel in my dreams about a serial killer who takes out big game hunters.
It was a very satisfying book.
