Remember to thank yourself, just as you are.

If, like me, you wonder where your career is going and how you got here, why some things come up out of the blue seemingly to make you nervous and your positivity needs a re-charge, go to poetry. For poets often illustrate the whole spectrum: hardship and loss, joy and love.So let them guide you to the still point where wonder meets truth.

Lay your back on the massage table/mat/floor/bed then breathe into your heart center and let your shit out!

Instead of seeing every little struggle as an excuse to get pissed off or eat ice cream, applaud yourself for being here. Thank yourself for taking out the trash today, for organizing your desk, for shifting into a more comfortable position to enable effortless breathing. Thank yourself for arriving where you are, just as you are.

Thank you for remembering to nurture the child within, whose innocent awe when gazing upon the horizon is the answer to all your questions.

Thank you for leaving work 15 minutes early today because you finished early and bought yourself a little more time to be outside.

Thank you for feeling comfortable in your own skin tonight as you bask in the quiet summer night, alone with the city lights for company.

It is an amazing feat that you are accomplishing every day, because you are being yourself. The one and only!

As once the winged energy of delight

As once the winged energy of delight
carried you over childhood’s dark abysses,
now beyond your own life build the great
arch of unimagined bridges.

Wonders happen if we can succeed
in passing through the harshest danger;
but only in a bright and purely granted
achievement can we realize the wonder.

To work with Things in the indescribable
relationship is not too hard for us;
the pattern grows more intricate and subtle,
and being swept along is not enough.

Take your practiced powers and stretch them out
until they span the chasm between two
contradictions…For the god
wants to know himself in you.

Rainer Maria Rilke

Upon realizing that there was never going to be a career in psychology, Seychelles Pitton decided to quit her job. While backpacking through southeast Asia where she saw ancient and natural remedies practiced by people in their own homes, she was inspired to train in bodywork and energy work, completed Reiki level 1 and pursues to lead a holistically balanced life. Today she counts swimming with the honu (Hawaiian green sea turtle) as one of her favorite pastimes.
