Climbing Mountains as a Metaphor for Life. #walkthetalk

Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis.

“As my good friend Gil Weiss used to say, ‘There is no better metaphor for life than climbing mountains.’ BeyondTalks is an extension of that ethos.” ~ Will Butler

Waylon, talk show host, talks with Will Butler, talk show host, about the meaning of adventure, entrepreneurship and the best metaphor for a life well-lived. Will is the Co-founder of Unreasonable Adventures and Interviewer at BeyondTalks.

What is BeyondTalks?

Background on BeyondTalks:

BeyondTalks is a passion project, consisting of live interviews mixed with multimedia content aimed at exploring the correlations between innovation and adventure. Their intent is to capture the stories of people who have continually stepped outside their comfort zones and applied those lessons to impacting change in their professional pursuits. Essentially, it’s an experiment to see if they can get to the heart of why adventure matters. These events are almost always held at Patagonia Boulder and they’ve tended to emphasize people living in the Colorado community.

Will’s real job is Unreasonable Adventures, a company he co-founded with Daniel Epstein (Daniel was on Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis last month).

Unreasonable Adventures is a software company that makes super simple guiding operations to give websites and FaceBook business pages online booking capabilities. Some examples of companies they work with are SEABA Heli SkiingBeer & Bike ToursWilderness Collective.

They primarily work with companies in the US and Canada, but their intent is to begin scaling their technology to developing markets in the coming year. The reason for this is simple: There is likely no business, more so than a tour operation, that requires less capital to start and has more of a direct impact on a local community. The only capital needed to start this type of business is a deep knowledge of their area and a passion for showing visitors what makes it special. What these companies often lack, though, is an easy way to take payment for their offerings before the trip begins, and a way to get the word out there about what they do. Unreasonable Adventures wants to help them with achieve success.
