Why? ~ Laura Ward {Poem}

Because, avocados.

Because, late nights that merge into mornings

and snorting laughter in knowing we don’t need more things.

 

Because, feet that reject the concept of closed-toe shoes

and their owner with hummingbird face tattoos.

 

Because, over the shoulder glances of coy “follow me” mischief,

you and the universe in on a secret, eyes flirt: “wouldn’t want to miss this.”

 

Because, delivered hand-written napkin notes

full of ridiculous riddles and rebellious antidotes.

 

Because, poems that don’t have nor want proper form,

perfectly messy creative storm.

 

Because, because.
