This one line of a genuinely-pained Jon Stewart on the Eric Garner murder by the NYPD stuck with me.

The Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision

“When a grand jury decides not to indict the police officer whose chokehold led to the death of Eric Garner, Jon struggles to find the humor amid the tragedy.” (3:38)

“We are definitely not living in a post-racial society, and I can imagine many people out there are wondering how much of a society we are living in at all.”

A day I’m thankful for Jon Stewart.

“I honestly don’t know what to say…If comedy is tragedy plus time I need more fucking time. But I would really settle for less fucking tragedy if I’m honest with you”

Relephant: “if you think racial issues are an insignificant point when it comes to discussing the NYPD and their systematic issues many of which are rooted in racial discrimination, stop and frisk data would like to have a word with you.”
