I am Yours. But I don’t Belong to You.

man hold heart

You dance in the recesses of my heart

Twirling with grace, stepping with soft feet

Tasting of spicy cayenne kisses.

Our souls lace their shaky fingers together

And we soar.

I am yours

And you are mine.

But we don’t belong to one another.

We belong together, yes.

We are made to sway in sync

As two adventurous souls

Two relentless truth-seekers

Becoming one

To bask each other’s light.

Splitting apart

To take on the world.

Our love can’t be caged or kept,

Bottled or compacted

Defined or limited

It is just is.

I am yours

And you are mine.

But we don’t belong to one another.

And we never will.

Because we belong to the breeze

To soaring piano symphonies

To sparkly strings of sentences

And scattered stars in the night sky.

Neither of us can be owned, darling

We move far too fast.

But our hearts step together

Side by side

Hand in hand

Lips locked

Souls smiling.

I am yours

And you are mine.

But we don’t belong to one another.

We belong together, yes.

Separate, yet always connected

By the rose-colored string

Of our ever blooming love.
