This Mother’s Day let’s grab the hands of our children, dash out into the brilliant sunshine and take a few moments to show our thankfulness and gratitude at this amazing journey we call motherhood!
Our children grow far too fast, sometimes so that we don’t even realize it until their pants are inches above their ankles and their feet are too big to fit into sneakers they wore only yesterday.
Yoga is about the practice of slowing down so that we can be more fully present in the moment. In the beautiful every day moments that sometimes as mothers we miss because we are worrying about dinner or dentist appointments. This year the greatest gift we can give our self is the gift of slowing down, and being mindful of all the simple joys that come from having children.
Momma and Me Yoga Routine:
Momma’s love is as strong as a mountain (mountain pose), it reaches from the tips of my fingers to the tips of my toes.
It’s as bright as a star (jump into a star shape letting your fingertips twinkle), and as big as the moon (half-moon or crescent moon pose).
It’s as strong as a warrior (your favorite warrior pose), as faithful as a dog (downward dog pose—don’t forget to bark and wag your tail) and as peaceful as a dove (pigeon pose—flap your wings if you’d like).
It’s as glorious as a sunset (sunrise/sunset pose, kneeling lift arms up in a big circle and rise off your heels), and as constant as the waves upon the ocean (seated with knees bent take knees from side to side).
Momma’s love flows like a river (seated forward bend) all the way to me!
Let your heart settle into love, knowing that no matter where your journey may take you, at the end of the day, when you are home settled down with your children—you’re exactly where you are meant to be.
And don’t let a single opportunity to kiss pudgy little fingertips and toes be missed!
