Manifesto of the Rebel. {Plus Kerouac’s Wisest Words}

In between the heartbeats of our dreams there lies our destiny which drips in the aubergine glow of originality.

To walk the path of independence is not always one that is free from stones and turmoil—but it is one that will make our hearts soar.

It’s no fun being like everyone else—so consider these words and let them take root in your soul, let them breathe life into your passions and may you always remember: The whole point of life is to live!

The Rebel’s Manifesto

Do the opposite of what you were taught in school—reinvent everything.

Pay no mind to the opinions of others—they are based in their own thoughts and fears.

Study the work of other rebels—steal things from them, research with wild fury and abandonment.

Forget about the competition—they are just on a different path than you, we all can succeed.

Trends are for suckers. (Seriously)

Do things that scare you on a regular basis—and as often as you can. If it makes your heart race and your knees weak then you know it’s definitely worth pursuing.

“There’s nothing we really need to do that isn’t dangerous.” ~ John Cage

Make a mess—revel in it.

Embrace your dark side. Your so called dark qualities or labels are a source of great power. Find a way to incorporate them into your work. Feature them. Pay special attention to what makes you angry.

Exercise your unique individual voice. Put your thoughts, ideas and opinions out into the world even if it scares the s*** out of you—and then repeat.

Expand your horizons. Leave home—visit other places and cultures. Wander aimlessly around this amazing beautiful planet, leave no corner unexplored.

Never limit your play time—even if your brain is telling you otherwise. All of your greatest stuff comes from it, if you allow yourself to remain open to the unknown and the joy of living.

Find what you love and make a living out of that.

Never under estimate the power of a great kiss, and always—always—give love one more try.

Let yourself drop off the grid—get lost and find yourself.

Question Everything.

Above all else: Follow your heart.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them, because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. Because the ones, who are crazy enough to think that they can actually change the world, are the ones who do.” ~ Jack Kerouac
