“It is said that All Hallow’s Eve is one of the nights when the veil between the worlds is thin—and whether you believe in such things or not, those roaming spirits probably believe in you, or at least acknowledge your existence, considering that it used to be their own. Even the air feels different on Halloween, autumn-crisp and bright.” ~ Erin Morgenstern

At Halloween, the eve of the Pagan New Year, the curtain between the physical world and the invisible world is drawn back.

Our sensitivity to energy is high as collective energy is strong on this day due to so many people tapping into and capturing magic when its powers are at a peak.

This is an enchanted day of the year when it is totally acceptable to dress in our witchery or wizardry robes and adorn ourselves with stones and accessories that carry powerful vibrations and also assist with completing the visual artistry.

Although many people decorate their homes to celebrate and get involved with this spiritual annual event, the best place to be when connecting with the energy to cast spells is out with nature. Halloween is one of the major sabbats of our earth religion and is a time to honor and pay gratitude to the earth for the cycles and seasons that make earth a habitable place to live.

If the spell is cast from home, ensure there are plenty of natural elements around. Bring in rustic leaves and scatter them across tabletops or window panes, have bowls of red and green apples in pride of place and decorate the room with splashes of autumnal colors.

Saturdays are already highly energetic days on earth so they are the perfect days to make magic. The fact that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year ensure that whatever spells are cast will have maximum possibility of coming true. We just need to ensure that our faith is strong and that our intentions are good and we cannot go wrong.

To protect against evil spirits on Halloween it was tradition for travelers to carry a lantern with an evil face carved into it, so many people chose pumpkins or turnips to house the flame. Those that weren’t traveling would leave the lantern on a window ledge to keep at bay any negative spirits that may try to step over the threshold.

Whether going out into the forest to cast a spell or doing a spell from home, repeat the following words just after lighting up the lantern to ensure it will disperse any negativity so that love and positivity can arrive in abundance. The spell on the pumpkin will also work to guard and protect those involved with the spell.

Draw a small pentagon on the bottom of the pumpkin and hold it with both hands up into the air as the moon rises.

Repeat three times:

Precious Pumpkin, protect me from all harm,
Expel any negativity energy,
Allow your flame to light and guide my way
So I do not fall upon darker paths.

Apples are the fruit of love and wisdom and found in early Greek history as a symbol or eroticism. In Greece if a man tossed an apple at a woman and she caught it she was also accepting the offer of his love. To the Greek people an apple was the fruit of Aphrodite, the Goddess who was associated with love, fertility and desire.

In Ireland the belief was that an apple should be peeled remaining in one piece and flipped over the shoulder into a cauldron or large pot of water. As the peel relaxes it will unveil the name of the thrower’s truest love.

When an apple is cut horizontally it reveals a pentacle, the star of knowledge, which is the symbol of unconditional love in Celtic traditions. If the apple is shared between two lovers it strengthens the bond between them and enhances their love.

To create your own Samhain candied apple love spell to attract true love, recapture love that is lost or to seal the bonds surrounding existing love, mix the following ingredients and share them to spread the power of love:

3 cups of sugar
1 cup of light corn syrup
1.5 cups of water
1.5 teaspoons of red food coloring (for love)
12 Popsicle sticks
12 red apples (for love and passion)
1 cup chopped peanuts (optional—for fertility)

Mix the sugar, syrup, water and food coloring in a saucepan and cook on a medium heat for 8-10 minutes.

Turn the heat low and pierce a popsicle stick through each apple. Dip the apple into the pan and then roll in peanuts to strengthen fertility (optional).

Leave the apples on waxed paper so the sauce cools and hardens.

Placing the hands over the apples say out loud.

I conjure thee, sweet fruit of love and immortality.
To bring those who eat these
Their deepest wishes for romance and love come to be.

Leave the hands placed over the top of the apples until the palms of the hands are warm.

When we connect and work with magic we should always take a moment to show gratitude to the energies that work to attract positivity and expel negativity.

Halloween, similarly to the beginning of all new years, is the most perfectly magical time to perform rituals and make resolutions to evoke and manifest what we wish to happen in the year ahead.

If we want a simple way of attracting love and good fortune we can simply place an apple under our pillow before we go to sleep on All Hallows Eve. As soon as we wake the next morning we should eat it to attract good luck and an abundance of love.

“The Harvest Moon glows round and bold, in pumpkin shades outlined in gold, illuminating eerie forms, unnatural as a candied corn. Beware what dare crawls up your sleeve, for ’tis the night called Hallows Eve.” ~ Richelle E. Goodrich

Expect the unexpected on this mystical and magical spellbinding Halloween.
