The Best “Date Night” Facial Mask Ever. {Skin Care Recipe}

author's own do not re-use

Who doesn’t want to look their best on date night? Or put their best face forward?

Part of the fun of date night, no matter what age we are or whom we’re dating, (it could be the hunk you’ve been addicted to for the last 20 years), is the pampering we indulge in beforehand.

I don’t know about your man, but mine loves the rituals I go through to keep myself healthy and looking my best. He thinks it’s all about pleasing him and it is…except that it’s also all about me.

I’m just as vain as the next girl, in a good, look, I care about myself kind of way. I have never pretended that looks don’t matter, just as I wouldn’t pretend that my mind is of no consequence. And because I’m a bit of a tree-huggin’ hippie, my self-care routine often includes home-made beauty treatments.

Out of all the recipes I’ve concocted for face masks, this one is my stand by for date night. Why? Because it’s not only cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and toning, it also gives the skin a heightened glow. And, there is not one ingredient in there that you couldn’t eat.

Like any other skin care routine, not everyone’s skin will respond the same as mine. I tend to have dry skin, but my friends with oily skin also use it with great results. However, as this is a stimulating mask, omit one ingredient for skin prone to rosacea.

The Mask

In a small bowl, mix together 1 tbsp. unpasteurized honey, 1 tbsp. organic, plain yogurt, and 1 tsp. finely ground coffee. (Omit the coffee for rosacea skin.)

Mix well and apply, being careful around the eyes, but it is safe and lovely on the lips.

Leave the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes or until it tightens on the face.

Rinse off with warm water, and apply your favorite toner and moisturizer. Your skin will feel and look nourished, plumper and have good color.

My mask ritual almost always includes a good soak in the bath, with some kind of meditation music. I can combine body care with spirit care and head out to my date completely stress free and refreshed.

Benefits of honey for skin: antibacterial, soothing, clarifying, moisturizing, anti-oxidant.

Benefits of yogurt for skin: moisturizing, anti-aging, fights acne, exfoliating—alpha hydroxy acid dissolves dead skin cells.

Benefits of coffee for skin: exfoliating, anti-oxidant, stimulating.

As a nutritionist, I couldn’t approve more of such natural and beneficial mask ingredients. As a woman, I simply love the healthy glow of my skin after using it.

And don’t be stingy, this mask is good for men as well! Happy date night, lovelies.
