The Most Feminist Words I’ve Ever Heard From a Man.

Justin

It’s no secret that I’m a feminist.

Still, when I was casually scrolling down my Facebook feed and stumbled across this video clip, I started to cry. Out of pure damn hope. I watched the video once, then twice and then for the third time.

I wanted to shout out loud the words and send the link to my boyfriend, to my dad and my brother.

These words by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, left me feeling empowered:

“We shouldn’t be afraid of the word “feminist,” men and women should use it to describe themselves anytime they want.” ~ Justin Trudeau

The importance of Trudeu’s words, is to understand the real meaning of feminism: it belongs to both men and women. Feminism is not women’s privilege. It’s not a shame. It’s about you and me, it should be part of our the everyday language.

“We should stand together for gender equality.” ~ Emma Watson from the “She for He” campaign

That’s it: being a feminist means supporting equal rights. Our rights.
