The first time I heard Boyce Avenue, I was sitting in the basement of my parents’ house.
It was the summer of 2011 and I had recently gotten home from volunteering abroad.
I can’t remember how I heard about them—how I found the first video I watched of them on YouTube—I’m just happy I did.
I’m just happy I found them.
I’m just happy they exist.
Sometimes, I even like to call myself their “biggest fan,” even though I know that’s probably not true. But I do love them and I did see them in concert once.
This version of “Roar” rips straight through my heart.
It’s all soul.
And belting it out at the top of my lungs just makes me feel so damn good.
