January 6, 2021: The Fall of Trump & the Rise of America.

The world got to see chilly, heartbreaking, appalling, disgusting images today, Jan 6, 2021, when rioters breached Capitol Hill and disrupted the work of lawmakers and public service workers.

Today was not a peaceful protest; it was an angry mob—one person is dead.

The symbolism of the breach to stop Congress’s work and the electoral ballots rescued from the senate floor is an abuse of power. The President failed even to address the nation as time passed, and then when he finally did, the tweets fanned and incited the country to not accept the election results but rest on his lies and claims of the unfair election.

Is this how we make our country great again—by flying confederate flags in a building that is characterized by exquisite architecture, art, and recorded history of serving as the nation’s capital?

The last time the Capitol was stormed was in 1812 when America was at war with Brits!

Let today be the day that the country awakens and reckons that the President did not stand up for us; he did not uphold democracy, he did not represent America—he disrupted law and order by encouraging violence. And for that—he needs to be held accountable.

What happened at Capitol Hill was also a display of “privilege” where the skin color defined how far the rioters could breach into the congressional offices, causing damage and attacking officers—a stark contrast to the images and resistance during the Black Lives Matter protest in 2020.

We cannot ignore Trump’s offensive and hypocritical tweets—like the ones below:

“Anarchists, Agitators or Protestors who vandalize or damage our Federal Courthouse in Portland, or any Federal Buildings in any of our Cities or States, will be prosecuted under our recently re-enacted Statues & Monuments Act. MINIMUM TEN YEARS IN PRISON. Don’t do it!”

“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

We heard from Vice President Pence much early on condemning the violence, while the President had no intention of making a statement. Pence showed grit when he refused to buckle under Trump’s pressure to overturn the count of votes for Biden’s election. In turn, Trump did what he does best—he attacked Pence for not having the courage to overturn elections when a VP does not have a constitutional right to block the vote count.

“The amount of tyranny you get is the exact amount you put up with.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

So Jan 6, 2021 will go down in history—for the fall of Trump and the rise of America.

Today has to be the defining moment that will wipe out any standing that Trump had even amongst the Republicans. We saw Confederate flags and Auschwitz shirts adorned thugs in 2021 at the nation’s capital- the country is sick with the division and strife of the last four years, and today it was another glaring wake-up call to jolt ourselves from this bad dream. And I hope we awaken as Americans belonging to this great nation.

Here are some images from today that we don’t ever want to see again.

May God bless America!
