This “Groove is in the Heart” Cover Just Made my Day.

I was scrolling through some news this morning and, to my delight, I came across this old 90s tune that I used to listen to all the time in school.

“Groove is in the heart” is such an iconic dance-pop tune that makes you want to get up and boogie.

This new cover song came up on my Instagram feed, posted by Triple J, a popular radio station in Australia. The band covering it, Client Liaison, hail from Melbourne. Just your typical Aussie, artsy, laid-back, Melbourne vibe—a reminder of how much I love the music scene emerging from Australia.

The lead singer is rocking a mullet and wearing a knit jumper with a lizard on it, the flute guy seems like he’s come from another era, the keyboard player is wearing party glasses and using a whistle for added effect—it’s honestly, everything I love about how carefree Aussies can be.

Everything on the news in Australia these days is about Covid-19, the vaccination rollout, and a state-by-state breakdown of every single detail and expectation of what life will look like on the other side of the pandemic. It’s been intense. And everyone I know is struggling one way or another.

Let this tune be a welcome relief and a chance to take a mental break from how heavy the state of the world is today.
