Five Famous Female Business Leaders

Women have been making strides in the business world for years. There are plenty of famous female entrepreneurs and business leaders, and they come from all different industries. Here is a list of five notable women in the field who have made significant contributions to society with their work.

1) Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most well-known and iconic women in business. She started her career as a television host but has since expanded into many different aspects of entertainment. She launched Oprah’s Book Club in 1996 to help promote books that focus on self-improvement and personal growth. Since then, she has partnered with OWN, a cable television network that broadcasts to more than 80 million American households. Her company, Harpo Inc., has produced many other successful projects, such as The Oprah Winfrey Show and Dr. Phil.

2) Arianna Huffington

Arianna Huffington is a Greek-American author, syndicated columnist, and businesswoman. She has had many successful careers in the past as an academic, political candidate, and journalist. One of her most notable ventures was founding The Huffington Post, which she sold to AOL for $315 million back in 2011. She also published two books about the power of feminism and is a well-known advocate for women in business.

Arianna Huffington and her husband, Michael Hufford, both share an interest in philanthropy. She has donated to many causes such as animal welfare, social justice reform, and environmental sustainability initiatives. She also served on Barack Obama’s Transition Team after his 2008 presidential election.

3) Maggie Smith

Maggie Smith is the CEO of a large corporation that specializes in luxury hotels and resorts. She started her career at The Four Seasons Hotels as an assistant manager but quickly climbed up through the ranks to become one of their youngest ever vice presidents by age 25. She has worked with many notable celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and others. Now she is a well-known figure in the business world who has made it easier for women to enter prestigious fields like hotel management.

4) Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart is a well-known businesswoman and author who has had an incredible career in the food industry. After graduating from Barnard College with honors, she was born into humble beginnings but became a very successful stockbroker. She also started her own catering company, which later established many other notable brands such as The Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia company. She is a household name in the cooking, and home decorating genres and has appeared on television shows.

5) Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a Supreme Court Justice who has been involved in law her entire life. She started her career as an attorney and later served on the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C., the federal appeals court that hears cases from Washington, D.C. She also taught at Rutgers Law School and Columbia Law School and was the first tenured woman at Columbia. She has worked as a prominent figure in many important cases, such as the United States v Virginia that established gender discrimination laws under the Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause.
