Surround her in light

What do we do when we don’t know what to do? What is the next right thing? When we have a dear friend dying of cancer, we don’t want to accept what we cannot change. I have learned, to take a deep breathe and connect. It feels like something is being done for that loved one, when we can breathe and send out love from our heart. Having an open heart means that there is joy to be felt and also loss. It is sometimes sitting with the overwhelm in our heart and asking our heart what it wants to say.

Someone told me recently to feel my sadness, to grieve, that we are built both for joy and loss. The heart can hold both and I suppose the difficulty can be making space for it all.

The practice has been to release, let go and surrender. Surrender to the pain and to feel it. Meditate and connect with my friend, seeing her sitting in a protective, comforting light of love. To trust that she is not alone and need not be afraid. Maybe it is simply making space for the power of connection and to love.
