The New Wave of Leadership
Democracy gained solid footing last night in the mid-term elections. Americans came out in record numbers to voice their concern about healthcare, immigration, white supremacy, voter suppression and to proclaim their choice of love rather than fear.

Among all the usual efforts between republications and democrats, we saw the rise of new leadership. A new voice has spoken in America. That voice was loud and clear, free from politics as usual.

One voice that caught our attention, perhaps one of the first since Bobby Kennedyand Martin Luther King, Jr., I predict is ready to lead this country forward into freedom is Beto O’Rourke who ran for senate in Texas.

O’Rourkeled his campaign with conviction for Americans. With a moral integritythat’s been lacking in politics and without the funding from campaign promises or dirty money. He chose to fight for the American people — and not be seduced by the game show tactics generally used to smear other candidates.

Some states we’d hoped would make a defining moment in history, may not have reached their full potential — but did redefine the climate of American Leadership. We are ready for change.

Stacey Abramsstood up against the machine running for governor of Georgia, as did Andrew Gillumdemonstrating when you work for what is right and good— we can make a difference. Many races were close, but more than that, they were the indication that America is fed up with old ways of politics among other things.

Mid-term races brought into clear view the disgrace of our political system. We saw over the past two years, the purging of American voters, fear tactics beyond our comprehension, the blatant face of racism even from our own president in his remarks and tweets.

Voters across the nation came out to fight voter suppression, white supremacy, and gun violence while supporting healthcare concerns and equality for immigrants. Voters came out to change the culture of separation in America.

We’ve gained a strong foundation. We see and feel Hope. It’s there in these new candidates. An optimism that has long been missing.
How do we move forward from here?
Now we have work to do.

Our cutting edge leaders from all our movements must come together. We need our leaders from the political arena, Women March, Black Lives Matter, March for our Lives, our LGBTQ, Black, Latino and Native Americans, with those spiritual and new thought leaders like Marianne Williamsonand Charles Eisensteinto sit at the table together and take our civil and moral rights further to the forefront.

We stand on the threshold of hopeand at the age of love. Let’s continue to rise and meet each other —see the hope in each others eyes and feel the love in each others hearts. Let us not see loss as defeat but rather as the footprint to our future. The foundation has been set.
