The death of Uhaul

Via on Jun 10, 2010

Moving by bike is easy, all you need are bikes, trailers a group of happy bicyclists, pizza and beer!

Boulder is known as a weird town….or maybe progressive is the correct word.  DC native turned crunchy Boulderite Jeff Pedelty recently decided to move his house by bike.  Yes, that includes mattresses, couches, love seats, dressers and dirty underwear.  He rounded up about 25 bike lovers to help, some of them were friends, some of them were just ‘strangers’ inspired to help the cause.

Jeff’s entire house buying process was accomplished by bike actually.   Jeff used Pedal to Properties and he and Realtor Matt Kolb pedaled the streets of Boulder looking for the perfect place to live.  Turns out, he found a nice little studio at the Peleton, which is a new development all about catering to bikers, hence the name.

The video below will give you a good idea of all the wonderful people who came together to make this move a success.  Talk about an inspiring community of people!

I really enjoyed helping Jeff with the bike move. It was honestly the easiest move I've ever done, because so many people were there helping. U-Hauls are a pain in comparison. The bike trailers we used for the bed and other large furniture were Bikes at Work trailers, available at bikesatwork.com. Those trailers can easily haul anything!
