Who is Jesus?

Via on Jun 24, 2011

“Jesus is a teacher of contemplation. This is his great importance, and this is what we often miss when we think or read about Jesus.”

In the short video below, Dom Laurence Freeman OSB, Director of The World Community for Christian Meditation outlines Jesus teachings of contemplation, meditation, and prayer.

We don’t have to get God’s attention. We don’t have to get God to change his mind. We don’t have to try to get God to intervene on our personal behalf. God knows what we need before we ask. That gives us tremendous trust to BE STILL. To be in the present moment. Not to try to get God’s attention, but to realize that it is we who have to learn how to pay attention.  God is paying attention to us already.” -Laurence Freeman OSB

How do we open up to the God-attention that is already within us?

“This is what Jesus’ teaching of contemplation and prayer is about. Meditation is the way that we receive the gift of contemplation.”

Thank you. I am finding glimpses of presence in the stillness of a summer dusk, aware of the life and energy in the grasses and the crow, mindful of the power of a pause, breathing, now; memories try to flood but sometimes I can surround them with space and connect with God in my moment.
