Harlem Shake Dances in Boulder. ~ Jonathan Sackheim

Ever heard of the Harlem Shake?

If you’re online, you probably have as there are have been over 40,000 variations uploaded.

A brief history: The meme started with a video uploaded on February 2nd by The Sunny Coast Skate crew out of Australia, which was based on another comedy blogger Filthy Franks video, where in one part, several costumed persons danced to the song “Harlem Shake” which was released on May 22, 2012, by Brooklyn producer Baauer.

Not one to be left behind, Boulder’s own yoginis are getting in on the action.

Yoga Loft, a relatively new studio in South Boulder has gotten in on the action with their own Boulder sporty version (oddly featuring Pee Wee Herman) seen here.

For more on the video and an outtake, see here.

It’s great to see yogis having fun and getting silly after class – it’s a nice balance to what can be a serious practice.

Even yoga brands such as Lululemon are getting in on the fun with their release:
And here’s another yoga shake vid from PuPPY Preview:

What’s your favorite Harlem Shake video and are you a hater or are you liking the latest meme?

Jonathan Sackheim is a Boulder guy. He runs the Keep Boulder Fun Facebook page and manages an online marketing consulting company called Grounds for Promotion.   Also, he’s lived in Boulder his whole life, making him a bit of an oddity in a town full of people who come and go.  Jonathan loves rock climbing at Movement Climbing + Fitness, mountain biking and volunteering for the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance, and even manages to squeeze in yoga from time to time at Boulder’s Yoga Loft
