Supersize-Me Sushi: the hunting of (pregnant) whales continues.
Whales have always been my favorite animal. They’re amazing, majestic, peaceful, powerful. Their singing (see video, below) is particularly haunting.
I remember in first grade a big moment for me, when I realized I might be good in school, was when I talked about the waters running red because of whaling, and my teacher was impressed and told my mom.
Below, the dark side of Japan’s famous love for all things water-dwelling.
When it comes to pregnant whales, I’m firmly pro-life. Excerpt:
Of 679 whales reported to have been killed during the 2008-2009 whale hunt in Antarctica, 304 were female. Four of the female whales were lactating, and 192 were pregnant at the time of death.
