Hot on the heels of Flagstaff and Tucson deciding to sue the state of Arizona over the state’s new immigration enforcement (via racial profiling) law, the Phoenix Suns have announced a response of their own.
Tonight, in game two of their NBA playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs, the Suns will take the floor as “Los Suns” in solidarity and appreciation of their many Latino fans.
Unlike the Arizona Diamondbacks, whose management team includes many political contributors to those who support the new law, the Suns’ management has publically denounced the new law as “mean spirited.”
So tonight, with unanimous support from the players and the blessing of the NBA and players union- the Suns will wear their “Los Suns” jerseys for tonight’s game on Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday.
We don’t exactly follow the NBA too closely but one thing is for sure, tonight we support Los Suns!
