One of our greatest self-help gurus has died at the age of 75.
The news struck me hard.
Sometimes we foolishly forget that we’re all turning to dust one day. When we hear the death of someone we admire, we go back in time and remember the tough periods where this person was of great help.
Dr. Wayne Dyer is an American author and a motivational speaker. People called him “The Father of Motivation.” Throughout the years, he became one of the teachers that was a huge part of my self-development and spiritual growth.
Visiting his online teachings or reading one of his books always put me back on track when I was lost.
The world has lost a prominent teacher. And now, more than ever, I come to realize his greatness and glory particularly in the world of spiritualism.
Dr. Dyer’s body has departed but his words remain.
Below are sayings I have gathered as a memory of his departure from the physical world. Those words not only helped me, but helped millions of other souls, and will keep on helping beings as long as we’re breathing.
On happiness and change:
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
“When you seek happiness for yourself it will always elude you. When you seek happiness for others you will find it yourself.”
“There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.”
“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”
“Judgments prevent us from seeing the good that lies beyond appearances.”
“When the choice is to be right or to be kind, always make the choice that brings peace.”
“You have everything you need for complete peace and total happiness right now.”
“Heaven on Earth is a choice you must make, not a place you must find.”
On kindness and love:
“Practice being the kind of person you wish to attract.”
“Love is a co-operation rather than competition.”
“If you believe it will work out, you’ll see opportunities. If you believe it won’t you will see obstacles.”
“Miracles come in moments. Be ready and willing.”
“When we are in fear, there is no room for love, and when we are in love, there is no room for fear.”
On thinking habits:
“Begin to see yourself as a soul with a body rather than a body with a soul.”
“I contemplate myself surrounded by the conditions I wish to attract into my life.”
“A mind at peace, a mind centered and not focused on harming others, is stronger than any physical force in the universe.”
“What you fight weakens you; what you cooperate with strengthens you.”
“I’m convinced that some of our greatest and most influential teachers show up in our lives disguised as people we resent or even despise.”
“A good man is but a bad man’s teacher, and a bad man is but a good man’s job.”
On the present moment:
“Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.”
“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
“Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.”
“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.”
On being the masters of ourselves:
“You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.”
“You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.”
“Conflict cannot survive without your participation.”
