Expanse
Let us not stay within walls
of our homes, of our cities,
and those erected within our minds.
Because what our souls really need
is the vast expanse
of open lands and open skies,
equivalent to the limitless expanse
of our consciousness.
Where the clouds dance
in a gentle rhythm
across the infinite sky,
and that which comes from the earth
sways to the song of the wild wind.
Where the boundary of one
coalesces with that of another.
Where we can’t tell
whence the outer universe ends
and the one within us begins.
