This Melancholy Version of A-ha’s “Take On Me” is my New Autumn Soundtrack.

More good stuff like this:

Beyoncé’s Surprise New Song “Black Parade” is the Revolution Anthem we need Right Now.
Billie Eilish on Carpool Karaoke: bonus ukulele ditties & a visit to her House.
Khalid’s cover of “Fast Car” is Painfully Beautiful.
Tracy Chapman’s cover of “Stand By Me” brought me to Tears.

I started listening to this and the world around me stopped for a moment.

I was completely present—and in awe. When something expected and familiar puts on a new, hauntingly beautiful costume, you can’t help but feel the change.

Turn the sound up, get comfortable, prepare to have some feelings, close your eyes, and listen:

And, while we’re here, I’ll share five quotes about being present in life—these should give you pause:

“And I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.’” ~ Kurt Vonnegut

“Living in this rat race, we forget to slow down and take a look at our surroundings. Now more than ever—with technology so accessible and life’s demands higher than ever—we must make it a part of our daily practice to stop and breathe.” ~ Fabiola Francisco

“Accept—then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life.” ~ Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

“As we look back on our lives in our later years, will it be the status post we read while waiting for our coffee that we will remember with fondness, or the moments we spend really connecting with others in person? This question becomes more relevant with each passing birthday: at the end of this path, will I feel fulfilled by all that I have done? This is a tricky question, because is it really about the tasks we have accomplished or our experience of life in each moment?” ~ Catherine la O’

“The time is now, the place is here. Stay in the present. You can do nothing to change the past, and the future will never come exactly as you plan or hope for.” ~ Dan Millman
