The Candles

Date five

Late night

You walk through my door

By now you know how to let yourself in.

Dark jeans, white tee

I always love this look baby,

You know this about me.

It’s good to see you.

It’s good to be here.

Smiling at one other for a moment

Knowing what’s to come.

Your kiss is filled with passion

My heart swells

I snuggle against your chest.

Do you feel it?

How quickly my heart races for you?

My bed beckons

We start slowly

But you know exactly where I want to go.

My body, my breath,

Yours for the night.

I surrender.

Hands, lips, limbs entwined

Pillows, sheets, and candles

You always love the candles baby,

I know this about you.

My head is on your chest

You kiss my forehead.

Nowhere else I’d rather be

Just you and me

This moment is everything.

But moments are fleeting.

Just like those candles baby,

The flame fades.

You say you have to go.

I pray one day you’ll stay.

For every time you leave,

Me wanting more.
