List of top 15 World Heritage Sites from UNESCO in India to Visit

India is a country with rich historical monuments that show the stories of yesteryear and reflect the richness of Indian heritage and culture in equal measure. Over the course of time and over decades, various monuments and sites have been erected due to the gradual change in culture and heritage. These monuments, which were built by the kings of that time, still dominate the respective regions with their landmarks. Since the country was previously the seat of some early cultures, there were some well-established kingdoms, great rulers, spiritual gurus, and more. 8. Kaziranga National Park, Assam (recognized in 1985 )

9. Hampi (Recognized in 1986)

Hampi (Vijayanagar) is a small but Historical town in the State of Karnataka, where there are a lot of ruins with artistic sculptures. These ruins are the remains of the former city of Vijayanagara, the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. This place was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Qutb Minar is the most notable tourist attraction in Delhi, built by Qutab-ud-Din Aibak as a victory tower to commemorate Mohd Ghori’s triumph. It is the tallest monument in Delhi and the second tallest minaret in India, a relic of the Delhi Sultanate.

13. Buddhist Sanctuary near Sanchi (Recognized 1989)
The Buddhist sanctuary near Sanchi is located in central India. There are the oldest Buddhist stupas in India – they are over 2,000 years old. Stupas symbolize the sacred tree of life and enlightenment in Buddhism. The local stupa is 17 m high and is considered the ideal type of Buddhist stupa. It is a massive, windowless reliquary and alone fulfills a symbolic function.

14. West Ghats (Recognized in 2012)

The West Ghats Mountains are parallel to the Arabian Sea and are located on the west coast of India. The mountains traversing through Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
