Hello Again, Ruminating Mind—It’s Okay. Go ahead & Cry.

Good evening, ruminating mind.

I see we are back on the same painful topic.

It’s okay. Go ahead and cry. Grab a pillow if you need to.

Let the tears come.

There’s no need to be any different.

I’m not going to attempt to regulate you or reframe your experience.

I’m not going to apply any DBT or CBT techniques.

I know this isn’t what you need right now.

I’m just going to sit here if that’s okay and give you my hand to hold.

You’re welcome to rest your head on my shoulder.

I know you’re hurting.

I’ve been watching you for a year and a half.

I wish you didn’t get cut.

I wish the wound would heal.

I wish more than anything that I could take the pain away from you.

I don’t have all the answers, though.

I wish I did.

I do have a blanket, some music, and arms if you need a hug.

I have pillows, a journal, a pen, and some hot apple cider.

I have a place for you here as long as you need.

One day, you will stand again and remain standing.

One day, you will be on a path of resilience.

I’m not going to force you down that path, though.

Let’s just sit here today.

Here’s a pen and journal.

I know you enjoy writing.
