New Year Energy Diet (No counting calories here!)

New Year Energy Diet

I always find the New Year a really exciting time, I think as we tune into the energy of a brand new year to work through and learn in, our personal energy (and our minds) open up to what we want to achieve and receive.

One of the things I like to do in January every year is put myself into the right zone for the year ahead; looking at what I want to do but also what I want to change. Preparing myself ready to receive!

I’m going to talk you through how I like to do this so you can experience this understanding for yourself at home – even if you’ve never worked with energy before.

This year, undoubtedly, is going to be an even bigger year for this kind of work, putting the challenging energies of 2020 behind us means we’re all going to want to make even more from 2021.

So, what is an energy diet?

We are all made of energy. We have our denser physical selves, and through (and surrounding) that is our auric energy field. And the way I view it is that our energy collects and reflects our experiences, our emotions, our thoughts. You often hear Spiritual people talking about raising their vibration, and this is simply clearing your energy and looking after it, so you feel better, brighter and more connected.

This is the basis of all healing work- when you go to see a reiki practitioner they are channelling a healing, higher vibrational energy into your energy to help you & release that which no longer serves you.

But its important to remember that the person who is really responsible for your own healing is YOU. You are an expression of your mindset, what you expose yourself to and how you look after both your physical, emotional & spiritual self. And this is where an Energy Diet comes in.

Just as with a healthy eating plan, we want to encourage you to look at what you’re consuming!

I’m always keen to make sure that everyone opens up to their own, individual Energy Diet. I can’t give you a definitive list of what will work for you – just as certain foods agree with some and not others, the same is said of what lifts & lowers our vibration.

Many of my students and clients think that Spirit only work with us for our Spiritual development, but I like to remind myself on a regular basis that we are here to experience life as a human being.  This means as you tune into the new year frequency you may well be experiencing a desire to focus on your human existence as well as your spiritual development and that’s perfectly correct! All is as it should be.

And, exactly the same as with a healthy eating plan, your Energy Diet will require you to pay attention, to be committed and for you to say no!

So make the changes you need for your own energy this new year, and see the difference it will make to your experience of 2021!

Energy Diet Activity.

  • Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.
  • I like to have a notepad & pen with me to write down the information I am given!
  • Take some long deep breaths and quieten your mind as much as possible.
  • As you sit and try to relax what thoughts are rising to the surface of your mind?
  • Are these your worries or do they belong to other people?
  • If your mind is like mine you’ll suddenly think of a hundred things you need to do. Don’t get cross with yourself, write these down so you know that you don’t need to think of them anymore – you’ll get to them when the time is right.
  • If past experiences or upsets are coming into your mind, that’s ok. It’s letting you know that you’re not quite healed from these yet, don’t fight them, allow yourself to remember and feel (this is part of the process of release) and when you are ready move on to the next thought that rises.
  • Just allow this process to take place. For me sometimes its 5 minutes, other times it’s 30.
  • Now ask your mind – what does it need? You may hear words, you may see images, you may get a feeling, just surrender to the experience and write down anything that comes to you.
  • Examine what your mind now tells you is tiring it, what is making it harder to function? Write then answers down, too.
  • Take your attention to your physical body. Take a few slow breaths connecting with that energy.
  • Are there any aches, pains, anywhere that feels out of sync?
  • Talk to those spaces, and your physical self as a whole – what do you need? For me, this can sometimes be very direct; once I saw tomatoes and knew I needed some vitamin c, other times I feel the urge to go for a walk in the blustery wind and release some stuck energy. This was also how I discovered that I needed to be careful of some foods I was eating – be open to everything your body has to say to you!
  • What is good for your physical body today? What is not?
  • Now breathe into your heart chakra, at the centre of your chest. Feel that space opening.
  • What does your heart centre say to you? What emotions are rising? What does your heart centre tell you, you need at this time?
  • What is good for your heart centre? What is having a negative impact on your heart centre?
  • Thank your energy for all it has shared with you today.
  • Write down your findings and then make sure you take the time to put them into motion.
  • Spend some time making the changes suggested to you by yourself over the coming weeks, and make sure you look at how this changes the way you feel, too!

This exercise can be repeated as often as you wish, and as you become more accomplished  at working with your own energy you will find that you are much more able to instantly recognise the impact of certain things and people on your vibration. It’s so important to listen to what your energy has to say to you. As I have worked with this on an ongoing basis over the last decade I can now tell straight away what impacts me and make a decision based on that. For example, I like to take a walk in the woods every morning before I start working with Spirit, I know this grounds, uplifts and clears my energy ready for work. This practice has really helped my connection, but also with removing stress and negative thoughts from my head. I am also now aware that certain TV shows and films really impact me and lower my vibration; some I choose to watch anyway, but I know there will be a payoff and I will need to work to bring the good vibes in afterwards. There are certain people that I know are not good for my energy and I should avoid unless I’m feeling strong, but sometimes I chose to spend time with them to help and support them.

The changes you can make to your energy diet may seem small and insignificant, but you’ll be amazed how they can completely change your life! And, I want to remind you here, that this is all about choice, it’s not that you need to cut everything you see as impacting your energy negatively out of your life, but ensure on the flip side that you make sure you do something that uplifts your energy to balance it all out.
