It is Okay to Feel the way you Do.

It’s okay to feel the way you feel right now.

Now read that again.

Give yourself a moment to let the meaning of that properly sink in.

Let yourself bathe in the beautiful knowledge that you don’t have to apologise for your feelings and emotions.

The simple truth is that your feelings, emotions, and thoughts are all yours. You are entitled to feel all of them, and nobody can tell you not to.

I have had a tough 18 or so months, as have most other people on this planet we all call home. I think it would be fair to say that everybody at some stage has struggled in some way during 2020.

COVID-19 has really taken a toll on our social interactions—the way we interact with one another and our relationships overall. Even the words that have been used throughout the pandemic by global governments have reinforced many people’s feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Feelings of loneliness, depression, anxiety, and downright terror at times are not just common at this time in our lives; they are rampant.

And while they are not pleasant or something we would live with if we can get help for them, it is okay to feel them. There is nothing wrong with feeling the way that we do.

It is normal.
It is understandable.
It is valid.

Do you feel sad and miserable with no clear reason at the moment? That’s okay.

Do you feel really happy and positive about your life despite the state of the world? That is wonderful.

Do you have no idea what you feel and wish you had even a molecule of understanding about your emotions? Join the club!

It is not okay for anybody to make you feel like you can’t have any feelings. There is no right or wrong way to feel about anything—the time for feeling guilty about our mental health and emotions is never.

Feel what you do.
Embrace your emotions.
Do the inner and outer work that you need to and find the emotional freedom to feel your feelings.

You are worth it.
