Dolly Goes Home—From the streets of India to the warmth of Canada!

Dolly got adopted. All the way in Canada!

Thank you to everyone who cared, and shared her story.

If you haven’t met Miss Dolly yet, here is her rescue story: Meet Miss Leggy Long-Legs Dolly.

Dolly’s story isn’t exceptional.

It is the all-too-familiar tale: cute puppy >> let’s get her >> some lockdown fun and cuteness >> she grows into a high-energy pup, needs mental and physical enrichment >> world opens up >> we are not bored anymore >> we’ll just drop her off in a new neighborhood in the dark of the night.

More in the article linked above and here.

My adoption appeal ended with this: “She deserves a home, a family of her own. And someone out there deserves this furry, leggy nugget of love in their lives.”

Happy to report that Dolly found a wonderful family (seriously, the best I could’ve ever wished for) who were excited to add her to their pack!

A small hiccup: Dolly had to make a 7000-mile trek to her new family who live in Alberta, Canada.

Good news too! I was scheduled to travel to Canada at the end of October, to the east coast, but a little detour wouldn’t hurt.

And thus began our journey—Dolly’s journey, really—with me being fortunate to be able to assist in changing the life of a being forever.

My tickets were booked, and Dolly could fly in her kennel with just an excess baggage fee, but the expenses added up. In preparation for her adoption, I got her spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. And because I couldn’t foster her the entire time (our own senior rescue dog still has abandonment issues even after many years and doesn’t do well with other dogs in his home), so Dolly had to go to a boarding facility for two months. Then, there was paperwork, transport, and some miscellaneous costs.

A lot of lovely people are already helping with the expenses, but Dolly could use a little more help. Please consider donating to her fundraiser. And also stay updated with her travel and first steps in her new home!

Dolly’s Journey in Pictures:

Though I fostered her for a short time, the bond formed quickly.

She charmed everyone who crossed her path. Seen here being pampered by the staff at the boarding facility.

Dolly’s new family. Just the most wonderful people ever. Dolly is going to live her best life ever!

My last goodbye to her. Bittersweet, but mostly sweet.
