The Three Words that Transform People.

“Our whole spiritual transformation brings us to the point where we realise that in our own being, we are enough.” ~ Ram Dass

It’s such a powerful, empowering word. A word that embodies the essence of one’s entire quest for existence and becoming.

To transform means to begin scraping off, removing, and shedding off the parts of you that no longer feel like you.

It means to remove the layers on the surface so that the deeper, stronger ones can emerge.

To transform is not to become larger than life or become different or more than what you were or are. It means to finally become you.

It means to finally shine in your own light instead of looking at yourself through the light borrowed from others.

It means to find a home in yourself by creating your own home within. It means traveling a long way, undertaking an arduous yet rewarding journey to reach to your own self.

And transformation doesn’t happen in broad daylight. It’s not obvious. It’s not loud and screaming for attention.

Transformation is quiet. It has a voice that only you can hear, see, and sense. It’s your own internal churning that no one else can see.

You’re changing bit by bit every day and sometimes even you don’t realise it until one day, you shine.

Till then, it’s all happening beneath the surface; the quiet and sometimes the loud shifts taking place in you that you are too busy to acknowledge, until one day you do.

And how do you know that you have transformed?

That you have finally stepped out of your cocoon?

When you are comfortable in your own skin.

When you know that there is no fight with the world outside. There is no struggle to change anything or anyone.

When you experience the richness of every emotion fully and completely.

When you believe that everything is unfolding for you at the right moment and in the right way and you surrender.

When you no longer feel the need to prove anything to anyone.

When you feel aligned with yourself and your purpose.

And we only need one person to enable that transformation: the “I” in you.

You only need to outgrow, shed, remove, and transform into the authentic you.

And for our transformations to happen, we need three things:

We are experiencing life and everything that it has to offer to us every single day. For us to transform, we need to experience the good, bad, and ugly faces that life has to show us. We need to make sense of each and every experience for ourselves and let our wisdom guide us on the right path because no experience is out of the blue or disconnected from our life’s purpose and vision.

In the larger scheme of things, every experience makes sense. The question is, are we willing to open ourselves up to these experiences and their learnings? Every person we meet and every event that occurs in our life is a gateway to our highest good. Every struggle, every pain has some merit to it. Only if, we allow ourselves to look at it that way.

“Experience is the teacher of all things.” ~ Julius Caesar

Every experience that is made up of people, situations, and events brings with it an energy. Some energies are meant to pull us down and throw us into a pit.

We experience darkness, aloneness, and misery. And when we rise from that pit, it is once again the energy of survival, persistence, and the hope of a better tomorrow.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.” ~ Martha Graham

As I write this, I am reminded of this amazingly beautiful scene from the movie “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” where Bruce Wayne (Batman) is thrown into the Pit—a place from where no one has ever come out alive.

Despite being physically broken, Bruce desperately tries to climb out of it and fails until one day one of his cellmates tells him that the only thing stopping him is his fear of “what if he can’t do it?” The next time, he simply takes a leap of faith and jumps out of it.

That is transformation.

Transformation of fear into personal power and faith.

We transform when we experience the energies of people and situations that are necessary for our growth. When we are pushed out of our comfort zones and allow our instinctive energies to take over.

“Life always delivers the creative energy you need to change into the new thing you must become.” ~ Rob Brezsny

Underlying every experience and energy are our tools of transformation—our own emotions. Every experience and energy exchange that we have within ourselves and with our surroundings stirs up some or many emotions. Those emotions are our guiding light. The only light that we need to follow. Whatever brings us joy, happiness, sadness, or makes us feel angry, jealous, or anxious is telling us everything that we need to know about ourselves.

The question then is, are we ready to tune in?

“Emotion has the power to transform. It can drag you into the gutter or take you to the highest peak of consciousness.” ~ Sadhguru

We transform when we experience the transformative energies of love, compassion, holding space, presence, discomfort, being shaken up from our slumber, and acknowledge and value every emotion that we experience.

To transform, we need to be present to every experience that life is offering us. We need to allow our energies to flow and let our emotions guide us.
For when all three come together, it’s time for us to come home to ourselves.
Every day.

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
