Our lil’party at Laughing Goat was fun (click for photos)…it took a helluva lotta publicity over 10 business hours to pull in maybe 40 folks over the course of three hours…but one good thing came out of it, fo’sho: at one point a friend and I foolishly starting jumping around talking trash to the beat of Fiddy Cent’s in Da Club, only our lyrics were about white boys, Boulder, fixies and lattes…it was only halfway into the song that I realized it was just Fiddy’s beat…and I asked one of the Goat’s stable of lovely lady and gent baristas who it was.
“Beats Antique,” she said.
“Oh, yah, that’s funny,” I said. “A hipster palomine just told me about ’em.”
So here they are. A few videos. Enjoy:
“BEATS ANTIQUE forges a curious alliance between middle eastern traditions and potent west coast circus, underground hip hop, breakbeat brass band, downtempo, glitch and dubstep.”
