Elephant Girl. ~ Sara Fryd {Poem}

Elephant Girl

My skin has never fit my bones

Too tight, too loose

Too…

“You’ll never wear a five

Your bones are too big,”

She’d say.  The “she”

That wanted her little girl to be like her,

Instead of like the me I wanted to be.

Over and over

I ate those words

Awaiting…

Digestion glued them to the walls of my

Insides…

And I became an elephant girl

Gray and wrinkled

From the outside

In.
