Have you ever wondered why there isn’t a TV show about Yoga?

Bravo has a contest for everything from cooking to hair salons to house wives. Every channel has its own reality show, from the Food Network to the HGTV to Fox.

It’s time that yoga gets a chance to inspire a whole new generation of yogis right in the comfort of their living rooms. Millions of American teenagers dream of being the next American Idol, or the next winner of So You Think You Can Dance.

Imagine if millions of American teenagers dreamed of being the next great yoga teacher. They would spend their hours cultivating inner peace, focused asana practice and kindness. When the message of yoga as a path of inner peace reaches as many people Grey’s Anatomy (which I love), then we might just reach a critical mass that believes in the power of human potential to do and be anything we want.

Guess who is having a contest to choose the winner and create a new show on her network, OWN! You got it—Oprah.

I created an online audition that shares my idea for a yoga TV show. I think both yogis and non-yogis would love to watch. Please check out my audition below and, if you like it, please vote for me, pass it on and help get the message of yoga on TV!

on the positive side, i do understand what you are saying, about trying to inspire people with yoga… however, isn't that kind of like taking a religious ceremony to the level of tv evangelism? i mean, rarely does entertainment get it "right" when studying these sorts of things so close to the heart…. the goal of reality television is the drama, and to morph the contestants' low points and magnify them to outrageously low points. don't be upset when they portray ashtanga as really superficial and any teachers and real jerks…. best of luck and i hope it stays positive, but unfortunately i think it sounds like a dreadful idea. (this comes from someone whose best friend is a reality tv producer…)

I think a show on TV about yoga is long overdue. I would love to see it happen. After viewing Kino's video, if anyone could pull it off, keep it genuine and create a following, she could! You definitely get my vote. The world needs Peace and the only way to achieve it is through the individual!

I think Asthanga yoga is limited to Asthanga yoga.. if someone to was to do a show on yoga I think it should be someone very rounded in all style, therefor availale to all bodies and ages. Ashtanga in rooted in it's very on ideas.
