Tarot Talk: Will I Ever be Happy?

As a tarot reader, I get to answer some penetrating soul questions.

The process of revealing someone’s deepest truths has been a transformational journey for me and my clients. Recently, I had a client come to me with a question that woke me up.

“I want to know if I will ever be happy?”

At first I was amazed that such a beautiful young woman had never experienced true happiness in her life, and I puzzled over how this could happen to anyone.

The card she chose was the Son of Cups.

I work with the Motherpeace tarot deck, which has beautiful imagery and different interpretations to other, more commonly used, decks. The Son of Cups has the god Shiva floating in a pink lotus blossom—playing his flute in a purple bubble—surrounded by water.

The card spoke and I revealed to her:

“You have never allowed yourself to experience happiness because you feel unsafe. In order for you to be happy, you must learn how to protect yourself. You are a radiant gorgeous flower and yet, you have never felt safe to shine or show yourself. Shiva is the protector of the feminine, he knows how to support, hold, comfort, and surrender to love. You must strengthen your masculine side so your feminine can feel safe to blossom.”

Her eyes filled with tears and she confirmed that this was true.

This got me to thinking. Some of the most frequent questions I get asked are:

“How do I find happiness?”

“Will this relationship make me happy?”

“What is happiness?”

Of course, each tarot card reveals something different for each person, but I would like to show you some valuable ways to find happiness in your everyday life.

Channeled Writing.

The best way to connect to your subconscious mind is through channeled writing. What this means is that you sit down with a pen and notebook and write nonstop until you fill at least three pages. The mind eventually gets out of the way and you begin to connect with the deeper part of yourself.

This process reveals what may be stuck, frustrations, blockages, and your real truth. You can start by writing about anything—even repeating sentences or words. Eventually you start having a conversation with the different parts of yourself. You can ask yourself questions and let the pen reveal the answers.

A good writing exercise for understanding what makes you happy is this:

Write down 20 things that you love—then write down why you love them. Take note of any recurring themes that may pop up or answers that surprise you.

Moving the Body.

Pain, confusion, and old emotions tend to get stuck in the body. Many of us try to disconnect from the physical world in order not to experience this. But, the only way to get over it, is to go through it.

There are many physical activities that will get your body moving, but something I invite you to do, is find one of your favorite songs and dance to it like you have never danced before. Shake your body, let go, and empty your vessel. In this emptiness, realizations or visions appear that can guide, inspire, or transform you.

To be connected to your body is a profound way to let go of heaviness, suffering, or old trauma that no longer serves you. Also, moving the body and raising the heartbeat enhances our “happy” chemicals. Having a daily movement practice is an important part of everyday happiness.

Strengthening the Solar Plexus Chakra.

The solar plexus chakra is a vibrant yellow spinning energy wheel just above the belly button and in front of the rib cage. It connects to sun energy, the personal will, creative life-force, self-esteem, and the ability to achieve in the world.

This area often gets blocked by low self-esteem, living life by someone’s else’s beliefs, or trying to be someone that you are not.

Strengthening this chakra will allow you to become your own warrior, to make decisions about your life, and to embody your best self.

So how do we strengthen it?

Chakra clearing practice meditations and solar plexus sound healing music may be beneficial. Also, daily spoken affirmations will help reprogram the cells and subconscious mind. The following are effective:

I am. I will. I act.

I will to will thy will.

I am worthy.

I am powerful.

Protection Spells.

Before I step out of the house, I always whisper an intention for protection.

“Come sweet angels and guide me on this journey. May no harm come to me or those around me.”

When I cast this intention, I know that everything in my path is for my highest good and that I will move safely toward my destination.

Another great way to feel protected when you go out into the world, is to wear protection gemstones such as amethyst, labradorite, and tourmaline. These stones can enhance the frequency of your intention and make you feel like someone’s got your back.

The List.

One of the best ways of easing into a feeling of happiness is to write about what you are grateful for in your life.

In the morning, or right before bed, write down 20 things that you love about your life. Anything really. The trees, your husband, your breath, money in the bank, or simply the ability write a list. Reflecting on what is really important, even the simple things, can be a blissful experience.

You can choose to be happy—by learning who you are, being a witness to life, and knowing how to let go things that do not serve you.

There are many roads to happiness. I hope your journey is blessed with love around every corner.
