Focusing On What Matters Most.

“It is the ability to choose which makes us human.” ~ Madeleine L’Engle

Today, my inspiration comes from Greg McKeown´s book: “Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less” on the importance of focus.  Perhaps, you enjoy it when friends suggest books to read…or listen to on Audible, like I do.

When it comes to focus, I have two questions for you…

What are the two areas you want to be great in?

Now you may be thinking…only two?! Seriously?

But before you get to feeling too frustrated, let me explain…

The point here is not to eliminate the things you care about but, rather,  to focus on why you care about them so that when life gets in the way it’s easier for you to set boundaries.

Focusing on what matters most helps us become more effective in every area of our life.

So, what do I choose?

When I first did this exercise, it was really difficult. It seemed so limiting. On the one hand, I’m naturally laser-focused on my new career as a Life Coach.  On the other, self-care is something I want to focus on as well. AND, I also want to be a great wife – not to mention a terrific mother to our two adorable, mature Westies, Maggie (8) and Tommy (10).

Now it´s your turn…Where is your focus?

What are two areas in your life that you want to be great in? Do you know? Are there things in your life that keep getting in your way? If so, what can you do to refocus your energy, so you can move forward?

My mantra here is to do more of what feels like love and less of those things that don´t.

What do you think? Might that be a mantra for you, too?
