What the Hell Happened?.

Have you ever found yourself facing a challenge that had to thinking: What the hell is happening here?! 

I know I have!

A lot of what I´ve been sharing lately has had to do with recovery. What I´m sharing today will help you whether you´re considering sobriety – or any other major change in your life.

What´s your challenge?

When that “What the Hell?!” thought first hits, it ́s time to re-evaluate your situation. Instead of thinking you have to make a major change, consider taking small steps when you first set out to make adjustments to what ́s going on in your life. 

For instance, do you want to moderate your drinking or quit altogether? Or are you wanting to quit smoking, or give up another addictive behavior? 

Maybe what you really want is to find a new career where you can earn a lot more…but you ́re not really sure you have what it takes.

One thing that really helped me when I quit drinking was to embrace a “one day at a time” mantra.  This is probably the best advice I can give you – no matter what kind of behavioral change you are trying to make. 

It’s all about our thoughts and behaviors. Really, it is. 

What about dreams?

Maybe you’re one of the lucky people out there who isn’t struggling with a major challenge, and, if that’s the case, I’m truly delighted for you!

I bet you have a dream though…

You might even be one of the really lucky folks who ́s actively pursuing that dream. While I still have challenges (several, actually!), I definitely belong to the “pursuing my dream” team.

So, what about that dream?

Do you sometimes feel like it’s out of reach? Do you find yourself wondering if it’s maybe just a number too big? 

I call bullshit on that. Truly. 

If you have a dream that gets you feeling giddy and excited, but something keeps getting in the way…

Here´s the honest truth: YOU are the only person holding you back.

Time for a wisdom sharing moment…

My coach –  yes I have a coach, too –  asked me some really key questions last week. In fact, I think they are so powerfully brilliant that I ́ve decided to share them with you here as a heartfelt gift to help keep you moving forward. 

If you take the time to dig deep, these questions will help you reach your goal.

  • Who is it you need to be, to be the person who __(insert your goal)__?
  • What is it you need to think, to be the person who _(insert your goal)_?
  • What is it you need to feel, to be the person who __(insert your goal)__?
  • What is it you need to do, to be the person who __(insert your goal)__?
  • What needs to be different, or what do you specifically need to do differently, to create the result you’re after?
  • What will it cost you to NOT GO AFTER YOUR GOAL
  • What will your present self need to do, EVERY DAY, to set your future-self up for success?

Powerful, don’t you think? 

Okay, now – while you ́re already thinking about them – grab some paper and a pen, and write down what´s coming up for you! 

Take your time. Go deep. Let me know what your challenges or dreams are. I would love to hear from you.
