In these trying hard times of pandemic, hope seems to be lost, especially when millions of people have been affected or died because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is still hope in the midst of despair.
Words swirl like knots in my mind, which drives me mad. My head throbs in pain as I challenge myself to write in a different way. I choose to write reverse poetry. It’s like what some people think about God during this pandemic versus God’s unfathomable divine plan.
Hope in the Midst of Despair
Note: Read top to bottom first, then read bottom to top.
I have abandoned you, my child.
Do not believe that;
my love and mercy are endless.
Can’t you see?
I am punishing you!
It is a lie that
faith can move mountains.
The quarantine period makes you realize that
your prayers are useless.
So, do not think that
there is hope in distress
I will not make a way
and it is unreasonable to say that
I will rescue you
when you call my name.
I tell you this,
My wrath is upon you!
It is absurd when you think that
this is my way of pruning you.
In spite of the virus that lurks day and night
I will not listen to your cries;
Do not think that
I am in control of everything
Who do you say I am?
I am nowhere to be found;
it is deceitful to say that
I am the great I am.
The abyss of fear and anxiety will consume you.
Thus, you should not think that
I will talk to you in the silence of your heart
to comfort you in times of adversities
Your faith and trust in me won’t do anything.
So, it is foolish to think that
I will protect you from the deadly pestilence.
For, I will not allow that!
I will not save you
so, please, do not say that
I, the Lord, will end this pandemic in my time.
