America, this Poem is for You.

I rest my case.

Change has come in the nick of time,
but we will never be the same again,
we will never be the same again.

The belly of the beast has been revealed,
un-knowing is not an option.

We can’t un-see what we have seen.
I rest my case against the former President.

My goal to unseat him is accomplished.
Four grueling years later.

Let the chips fall where they may.

For a time, I rest,
lick my wounds,
repair that which needs repair,
that which can be repaired.

But my reparations turn now to those in true need,
those for whom the Constitution is just black marks on parchment.

We must bring life into that paper,
move toward the fulfillment of the ideal
of life, liberty, justice, and mercy for all.

We must never be the same again.

I rest my case,
but I do not rest on my laurels.

A positive change is going to come.

And I plan on being there.
