Matthew Wilburn King is a distinctive voice in contemporary literature—an author, speaker, and explorer writing at the intersection of inner truth and global change. His work bridges story, spirit, and strategy to help people reconnect with each other, the Earth, and what matters most.
A survivor of Stage IV cancer, Matthew’s writing is grounded in resilience, creative inquiry, and the belief that all meaningful change begins within. He writes to understand, speaks to empower, and explores to remain open to what’s possible.
His essays and commentary have appeared in both academic journals and popular outlets, including BBC, Earth Island Journal, Euronews, NBC Universal, Mongabay, affiliates of ABC and CBS, podcasts, and TEDx. His work explores themes of climate and conservation, psychological transformation, the human condition, environmental governance, and the evolution of capitalism.
Through narrative and reflection, Matthew offers a hopeful vision for how individuals and systems can move toward greater alignment, integrity, and wholeness.
He is the founder of Our COMMON Foundation, a creative and philanthropic platform that advances initiatives at the intersection of creativity, ecology, and resilience. He’s also the voice behind Elemental, a Substack newsletter on purpose, transformation, and what it means to live with heart in a changing world.
He is currently working on two books: One Choice. One Act. How Living in Alignment Changes Everything, a work of nonfiction, and Vanished, a philosophical adventure novel.
